If you were in the job market what companies would you apply to?

hey bros,

looking into swapping to a better role here. hope that's not selfish considering all the layoffs.

personally finding there's likely a need to find somewhere else to settle down and after spending hours combing repvue and searching for places that have a good culture and a need to have solution figured I'd come to the war room and get your sage advice and opinions.

so if you had to find another role now, are there any quality places you'd be looking to get into for your next career move?

Someplace that pays better than where I am at and has a full remote option.

I feel like the first part of my statement will be your answer for the majority of people.

Pays better is always a plus. Already got fully remote and looking to stay that way for sure.

Looking for specific companies tbh. But good comment savage

how can we tell you what companies to look at without knowing anything about your work history, experience, desired sales cycle, deal size ect?

most ppl looking for specific company recommendationsdo not get solid feedback here just a heads up.

Good point and good point.

I’ve been in SaaS sales for about 1.5 years and enterprise for 8 months and have 7 years of actual sales experience.

Prefer to have a shorter sales cycle but getting used to the 3-6 month currently.
I’m working normal run rate 50-75k deals now.

Might’ve jumped to enterprise too soon but might also just be in my own head 🤷‍♂️

I am not looking so havent thought about it too much. I would like to work for a start up at some point in my career, but dont know anyone I would recommend since I havent done any research.

I would also apply to the Microsoft and Google, since it would be interesting to work for those companies IMO

Fair, just started research. Market isn’t exactly hot but Microsoft and Google sound like good spots to have on a resume

No specific company in mind. They need to pay me for my experience and offer full remote work to even consider making a move.

Thinking through the potential event of a recession, what tech could be more safe than others, or in a sense what would companies need tech wise versus what would be considered a nice to have.

It's never selfish to look out for yourself. Also, if you move on, you've opened up a spot at your current company for someone else.

I think we all have our dream companies for which we want to work. I've already worked at mine, but am very happy now in a smaller company that hadn't been on my radar at all.

Hiring freezes came sooner than the seasonal freeze 🥶
If y’all open up are you down to talk about helping a fellow sales savage get in the door?

I can actually answer this:

1: more money. I have my own personal financial goals and I actually mention this as a motivator instead of a "make more for its own sake"

2: Career growth. I don't want to be spinning the metaphorical wheels collecting a paycheck. I want to use the skills and hone them to become better at my craft and help others do the same.

3: good GTM and market fit. Ties back into 1 and is so important. Without these or a clear pathway towards this, the team is spinning the wheels and true growth isn't happening but rather luck based sales.

4: good people. Simply put, gotta like who you work with.

Thank you for having a real answer.

Do any companies stand out to you that fit these categories?

I’ve only really come across BigPanda and UserGems so far

You picked a hell of a time to be job searching! Either way, I always recommend you do this when you have a safe and secure job already because it gives you the most leverage to make significant jumps. Just know that right now, the labor market is saturated with tons of folks who are also looking for opportunities that can potentially accept less than what you're willing to accept.

Haha yeah with the massive layoffs and hiring freezes it’s not ideal. I’m mostly just shopping the market just in case currenktyn

I would apply to all of them. You don’t know the structure/product/pay until you are in the process. Shit, you even get lied to in the process.

That’s the truth. So many spots just agreeing to everything you want then it turns out to be completely different once you’re signed and in the door.

Big part of why I’m trying to move out of this role

Good pay and benefits are table stakes. What I look for is: (1) growing company (2) in a durable sector (3) with a great product that is either #1 or #2 in its space. That last one isn't a deal breaker if the company itself (not the product) has sort sort of competitive differentiator or unique value proposition. Additionally, quality of leadership is key. Glassdoor is very useful in that regard.

One that offers good pay and benefits, plus equity. One that's in a growth industry that has a great suite of products and a large TAM. One with great leadership.

My dream is to work at crowdstrike. They're amazing. Started looking at them as a stock and the more I dove in the more I fell in love with the company. Accomplished c suite, great track record (they found out that cozy bear and fancy bear were behind the DNC breach during the 2016 election), world class product with a good competitive edge over competitors like Palo alto, scaler and sentinel one. And their threat reports and team are very vocal on podcasts and stuff which have made a great impression on me.

Also get like at least a 20% pay Bump lol.

Anything in cyber security for me would do it at this time. Maybe even supply chain and logistics companies.
