Inside vs Outside hire salery comparisons

Curious to hear what everyone else's experience on this is.

Have you been promoted and risen the ranks from within? Are you fairly compensated to your peers that are outside hires?

Or are outside hires always paid more ect?

Are you fairly comped against your outside hire peers?

I tend to look at things in the same light we look at sports. For the most part, as much as I don't agree, "free agents" almost always end up getting paid more than highly drafted rookies on their first contract.ย  The many levels that this doesn't make sense are abundant, but this is still how most sales orgs work.ย  I've personally moved away from hiring a ton of "free agent" talent, focused on building a team and pushing growth from within.ย
