Interview Rant!

Hi guys!!

I'm writing this here because I have nowhere else to vent, and partly because I feel like this is a good place for advice.

**I interviewed with a company over the past two weeks and I went through seven total interviews and a writing assignment. I honestly just knew I had the job because the interviews went so well and everyone have good things to say on all interviews. Today, they emailed me a generic email response saying they decided to move forward with another candidate with experience the aligns more closely to what they  are looking for. I followed up after every interview and did everything perfectly, but it's a little upsetting that now I feel like they wasted my time, and I think I should let them know how they wasted my time.

The fact that they didn't realize that 7 interviews ago and wasted my time with the writing assignment to give me a generic response is very frustrating.

Has anyone ever been through this?

I have never been through that many interviews for a single job. 4 max! Sorry you wasted your time on scum and they can take their generic email and shove it up their asses.

On a side note, read part two of @Kosta_Konfucius's reply and then if that doesn't work, continue on with my rant haha

This is incredibly frustrating. I'd take it as a learning point that moving forward anyone that requires this many rounds is a red flag. I also decline doing "assignments" for an interview, and have no problem telling them they can pay me for my work.

Exactly... Doing an "assignment" during an interview is an instant turn-off. It's the equivalent of my mother-in-law in lingerie. That's an instant exit stage left for me. Seven interviews is excessive to say the least. Learn from it and move on up to the east side.

7 interviews is way too many, I can deal with getting rejected but you don't need this many interviews to make a decision.

I would reach out to the recruiter directly for more feedback, who knows they might love you and have another role open you would be a good fit for

if a recruiter tells me there's that many steps to the process I say thanks but no thanks. My time is too valuable to waste that much of it on their interview process with no guarantee of getting the role at the end of it (or that I want the role). That many interviews says they're bad at hiring and are scared of making a decision.

7 is insane, even more insane they gave you a generic response. Been in this boat before of multiple interviews + generic response after multiple weeks of waiting. Ask for feedback, vent frustration and keep going for that next job.

7 interviews is like the full training period of an SDR, that’s a no from me to the whole process from day 1. You’ll get the next one though!

Very frustrating he hear this. Nothing worse than a generic canned email after putting in so much time and effort.

SDR is a competitive space, keep grinding! This could also be a cop out that they are not hiring for the role / hiring is frozen.

For an SDR position?!?! Then they say they passed because they wanted someone with more/better experience even thought they knew that before even replying to you?!?!

No point in burning a bridge. Ask for feedback for the sake of improvement and move on from there. Who knows, maybe one of them really liked you and will have a role for you in he future!

Damn that sucks. 7 interviews PLUS a writing assignment.. I would 100% let them know that they wasted your time and that they need to revise their hiring process.
The other thing to add is that the silver lining shows you won't have to work at a company that is so dysfunctional and inefficient.
