Introspection/reclusion or extroversion? How do you respond?

So by now most of us have seen the screenshots and read the comments from the CTO on LinkedIn who publicly libeled a sales person for the out bounding/cold out reach efforts. If you haven't, or wanted to bask in the glory again here is the post:

But, I'm curious. When you see something like that happening - a highly emotional, debated and controversial thread - what is your typical response?

Do you tend to pile on, being outspoken when you see something that you disagree with or when an injustice has been done?

Or do you tend to stay away from it, not getting sucked into the emotion and firestorm, but still using it as an opportunity for introspection and reflection?

It depends on the situation and the mood I'm in before I see it. I'm not afraid of jumping in to defend someone especially in a situation like that. But, at the same time if I I see that there is plenty of support and I don't want it to mess with my mojo I might move on with my day.

The latter for sure. As much as I love reading that stuff I find most keyboard warriors have nothing to gain from piling on

For me it's not as much looking for something to gain as it is defending something that is otherwise defenseless.ย

Thanks for your thoughts.ย

Usually I'm outspoken and have no problem entering a lively debate or challenging someone when I feel strongly about something. However, my LI activity is different...I really only use it for prospecting and networking (in case I need a new job) and so I avoid any kind of posting that could be construed as political/negative/controversial so I don't lose out on potential prospects or business connections. It sucks, but business is business.

In real life I am that person that will speak up...sometimes to a fault. I'm working on choosing my battles and shutting up more often.

I would say I'm almost always the same...but dammit, this time I couldn't hold back and piled on! lol

Thanks for sharing!

I was very tempted...but exercised that "self control" thing people talk about for once.

Since it's summertime, an outdoor projector and big screen is a really cool idea, that can incorporate their friends. Think outdoor movie nights with some grilling, invite your friends. That could be a really cool group thing for them.
