Investing in online sales training?

Has anyone done this or think it would be worth it? I just got promoted to AE (SMB) and want to ramp up as quickly as possible. It's already been a few months but I haven't been able to close anything yet (I've been working a fair amount of deals this whole time).

I've been looking into John Barrows training. It's only $400 for a year subscription to every course they have online for every part of the cycle (that's only like $33/month, so don't think it's toooo bad).

The thing is: I already invest a lot in my own mindset and learnings. I analyze and learn from my mistakes, constantly read books and content, and listen to a fair amount of sales podcasts. I come to top performers with questions and connect with team members regularly. Getting more serious about listening to all my recordings (unfortunately we don't have Gong).

I feel like I'm pretty ramped up by now in terms of skillset honestly, but am discouraged that I haven't won any business yet after my first quarter.

I wouldn't complain about getting even better and firing off and making some commish...

Do you think it'd be worth it to invest into becoming better this way, or do you think I just need a bit more time/reps?

Note: I'm only looking to develop AE skills. I am more than comfortable with my prospecting skills as I've done it for 2 years, 8 months of which were in the enterprise space.

Oh, another side note: My onboarding was nice and my peers and manager are great at giving constructive feedback which I implement. But when it comes to my sales trainer and sales training beyond this, it doesn't teach me much that's useful...

Personally, I LOVE JB Sales but I am lucky to have had a lot of the same type of selling at a previous company and I don't think I'd paid for it. That being said, I attend a TON of webinars that the host for free so maybe start there? They also tend to give away free memberships from time to time.

That's a good point, I'll be sure to take a look. Good litmus test also before going all in. I do listen to his podcast though so feel like I would like it

Yes, the podcast is great too! I haven't done a ton of research into what the membership entails but I get so much good insight from the webinars and podcasts that I'm not sure what I'm missing out on I guess...

Theres a lot of good free stuff out there, I'd only be willing to pay if my company was gonna pay for it for me.

Yeah that's fair. At this point though, I'd view it as an investment if it helps me make commission that is significantly more than a one time $400 payment. True lots of stuff out there though. But everything all in one place? I'm very on the fence if you can't tell lol

I do follow Josh Braun on LinkedIn and do also love his stuff, but feel like it pertains mostly to prospecting? Does he have any specific content related to the rest of the sales process or closing?

So while doing market research for my own sales demo course I released for AEs I came across your post.

I'm not sure where you're at now since I'm joining the party late.

" I already invest a lot in my own mindset and learnings. I analyze and learn from my mistakes, constantly read books and content, and listen to a fair amount of sales podcasts." << this is how I originally learned. The downside to doing this is it takes longer to figure out but can be a fun process. The whole idea around courses is that:

1. it's consolidated information - this way you're not chasing hundreds of different resources at a time.
2. it's guided

I personally bought Josh Braun's course , but I think it's only great for prospecting.

In terms of sales demos, I ended up just building a course myself a few weeks ago.

What could be worth it is getting a sales demo coach/trainer - that is going to be way more personalized.

Last week I did a few 1:1 demo coaching sessions with some AEs (individually, and for free), so I'm happy to do that with you if you think it could be helpful.

The reason why I'm doing it free is b/c I'm iterating and doing a lot of market research and the only way to validate what I offer is to do it for free to folks in exchange for feedback.
