Is anyone here in sales outside of tech/SaaS? Feeling like this is primarily a SaaS sales community… If you sell anything other than software holla at me!

We are in here, just weary from all of the same SaaS shit being asked over and over and over...it's fucking groundhog day.

Agreed. I think a lot of what is said applies to all types of sales careers but seems like a heavy focus is on the tech. Especially now a days with the mass layoffs… other sales industries look really nice!

Trying to understand if transitioning into tech sales is even worth it. And if so what are the best ways of doing it? I am an experienced account manager and current territory manager but keep getting rejected due to no previous SaaS experience and am not willing ti step back into an SDR role just to try ti make it in a new industry.

There is Bravado academy and Bravado jobs you might want to have a look into. Great place to start.

For me it was worth it for many reasons.

Seems like a good resource. What were your main reasons?

To clarify, how are people coming to the conclusion of no because you have not had SaaS sales?

is software not emphasized in your resume? Is it during the interview? When exactly and how does lack of SaaS come up?

SaaS sales equals a bunch of VC’s and founders that realized they could appear larger than life by making themselves seem unique.

I’ve done SaaS and other types of sales. I hate to tell anyone their job is easy, but picking up the phone, emailing, doing demos, writing sequences, research, using software to help you do your job and it’s not excel, maybe even having someone on the technical side to do that shit for you. Yeah, those are not special sales skills at all.

It’s a grind for sure, but if you can make your resume appear as though you sold software and technical thing a jigs, you’re golden.

I am outside of SaaS - Cellular telecom enterprise equipment. I have a few OPEX options in my solutions portfolio that lean "as a service"

I've sold outside of SaaS in my career. Happy to assist with any questions you may have regarding non-SaaS sales.

Started my career in Hospitality sales and have transitioned in and out of Software/SaaS/Tech sales a couple of times. I found that the comp was worth it. My H1 commissions (months 6-12 in my new role) were greater than my total comp in hospitality. Unfortunately the job market is competitive with the amount of Tech sellers that are being laid off right now. Either find a Big Tech (google/ibm/amazon/other) that has a sales training program and take an "entry level" sales role or find a startup or similar sized company in your industry that solves for a problem you see in Tech.

Hey I did sell blenders for 2 months and solar D2D for 2 months. Both were incredibly hard and I figure 3rd time's a charm.

Also winners never quit and quitters never win.

I sell accessories for entertainment lighting equipment. We are a niche of a niche. It is a bit frustrating when trying to do any sales training since most is targeted towards SaaS sales. But it is a lot of fun. We get to work on the largest shows out there and see some very interesting work.

Yup I’m in finance selling investment management services. I came from
SaaS and the wild thing is so much of that experience and this community translates well. The main difference is the sales process in finance is not nearly as well defined and lacks resources.

I use to sell commercial concrete/mortar to Italian and Chinese businesses - it was like being a Consigliere between opposing construction syndicates. Now I'm trying to get into SaaS - Grass is always Greener.
