I don't think it's normal? Ours only changes annually.

I've seen it happen when a company completely misses the mark, which even big companies do in specific markets from time to time. I'd prefer them to do that rather than watch teams of reps suffer because it wasn't right. However, if it's a case of moving that football out, nope, that's just being petty.

normal? no.
Common? yes.

this happens a lot and it sucks. As the VP of sales, were you not involved in this?

LOL, there was just a thread about stopping title inflation.

In the future, just put "frootloop".

+1 for "Frootloop" that should be what we call Enterprise reps now.

SDR -> AE -> Mid market AE -> Frootloop -> Sr. Frootloop

maybe ive worked for some trash companies. but yes this is normal, no it's not okay. but i've experienced it multiple times.

i think posted a while back that i worked at an org that fired the bottom 1/3rd performers every month and they also re-calibrated commission monthly. i always felt like no matter what i did i would pace towards making 100k a year because they were always moving the dials. and i always felt like i should have made like 150-160k in that role but it was a moving target.

money was just good enough to keep you there but they were constantly changing the rules and it was annoying.

Yes, it “normal” in that it happens a lot. Does it suck? Usually. But you should always push back unless it helps you.
