Is it okay to give feedback to the interviewer?

long story short, in an interview with a unicorn yesterday I was asked how I heard about my previous roles/experience. Why I accepted the position and why I left.. that's it.
I tried to close the interviewer and almost begged for objections as to why I wasn't a fit or gain a "you're not a fit for this role". they replied they had no reservations or questions about my experience. I was also stopped during my explanation of answering their 3 odd questions essentially to wrap it up so I can have the last few minutes to ask them questions.

I don't want to come off as a jerk or overstep. But, by asking these questions and not giving me the time to try to throw in experiences in my past that align with the responbilities for the role I am interviewing for how can I discuss what isn't on my resume or accomplishments? I contacted the recruiter today to ask if we can discuss their interview process as this one was a bit unorthodox. I sort of felt maybe the interviewer was asking me so they can figure out the best way to apply for those roles? I dunno, I'm lost. is this a new tactic I'm unaware of?

I'm sorry this happened to you. The disrespect is frustrating. However, it's not appropriate to give feedback unless they specifically ask. That's my opinion.

Giving an interviewer feedback literally does nothing for you aside from waste your time. There's literally no point. Cross them off your list and move on.

We will see. I reached out to their recuriter and discussed it. It is not normal or any part of their interview process, they are setting up another interview asap.

If this is a company you'd like to join, I'm sure it will be interesting to see if this next interview is anything like the first one.

Was the interviewer the hiring manager/a peer...or were they on the internal recruitment side? If the latter, they were working off a script and had to fill out a hiring rubric. It's not personal, and they aren't going to take your feedback in a meaningful way. Hell, they might even agree with you.

Hahahaha good point. This was a hiring manager, you meet with multiple in the company and they all vote on the best fit from what it seems.

Yeah, that's a rubric or 360-interview style process. You can't change it, even if you want to and the person agrees. VP of People level things that they LOVE TO DO.

I can see both sides here, and have some advice.

When interviewing candidates for sales roles, I also like to use that general framework for part of the conversation (by no means all of it) in order to understand how proactive and intentional this seller was in their own career vs. reactive, and how well they used career transitions to improve their reality. e.g. When they left one role for another, what were they aiming to optimize in the next one? And... how did that work out? How good were they at due diligence? Or did they make similar false steps multiple times over? Do their choices reflect career progression? What did they learn at each transition point, and how did that impact how they showed up to the next role? All of that is intended to give me some indication of their proactivity as a seller (do they create their own luck?), and also gives me a sense of how intentional they are in this moment as I'm meeting them -- how much can I trust that they know what a "good" next step will be for them?

BUT - to your point, that can't be the whole interview, and I'd be wary of a hiring manager that didn't explore other question types or conversation formats when meeting a candidate.

My best advice is to consider WHY the interviewer is potentially asking such skeletal questions (see above) and when presenting your answer, be sure to answer the question behind the question. Don't just tell them how you found your previous roles and why you left, tell them WHY you did what you did, What you learned from it, and How your learnings --> approaches evolved over time as you gained more experience.

As for Feedback - if you don't get the offer, feel free to give feedback. But, if you're still in the running, suggest to hold off on it til you become their employee. You never know which egos you may unintentionally poke and end up shooting your candidacy in the foot. Once you're on the inside, working for them, share your feedback with HR and ensure they run a better recruiting process for future hires.

Good luck!!

Anytime! And, for what it’s worth, I think it speaks very highly of you that your instinct was to consider if/how to give feedback to the organization. Your willingness to openly communicate about what can be done better and address it head on is a trait that will be super valuable to your future employer!

Damn that seems unprofessional. I wonder if they've been doing this to everyone. Might be on glassdoor interview reviews?

What is MMS? IMO, as long as you're hitting your quota, it shouldn't matter how many meetings you have daily. Sure my company tells me "a meeting a day as well". But enterprise is a different animal.

I don’t have any constructive advice but will say I feel ya! I have 30 accounts in my patch and one time my boss suggested I shoot for 3 meetings a day.
