Is it weird if your manager takes twice as much PTO as you?

The SDRs on our team have 15 days PTO while everyone else in the company has unlimited PTO. My manager takes twice as much PTO as us and it makes me feel a bit frustrated at times. I am a super efficient rep can definitely budget more time off. I think time off is super important for well-being and mental health. The company website says there is unlimited PTO, but there's a different policy for the bottom-of-the-barrel SDRS.

Anyways I would have left the company for several red flags now, but I'm building a side hustle that's on pace to earn me as much as I make from my day job. I don't have the bandwidth to onboard and ramp somewhere else right now but eventually I'd like to move to a place where I'm treated best. Also the job is super easy and low stress which complements my side hustle well.

Do you think your manager should get the same amount of PTO as you?

Wow thatโ€™s actually pretty surprising to me. Theyโ€™re basically admitting they donโ€™t give two shits about SDRs.

It makes sense for people with more senior titles to get better benefits in the form of PTO/vacation. It's part of an attractive compensation package. I don't expect a VP Sales to be compensated the same as an SDR in either money or perks.ย

You said it yourself, SDR is a bottom of the barrel position at your company so it makes sense why they'd get minimal perks.

15 days of PTO is on par with other entry level positions.ย

I completely agree. You are in an entry level position, why should you feel entitled to the same benefits as people who are in senior positions? Participation trophy generation mentality.ย

As a fellow SDR I am entitled to unlimited PTO just like the rest of the employees at my company. However, we are a flat company so that may play a part in it.ย

My pov on it is that if you're producing you should be entitled to the same time off benefits.ย

That's the way to do it. A good SDR is worth a lot.. and not having good perks is not going to attract good talent

Is it the same for entry level teams in other departments?ย
If it is, then I wouldn't worry
If SDRs are the only ones, then maybe the org doesn't value the SDR function.ย

Get promoted, then you'll have itย

Our SDR function is newish. I'd be curious to know if other entry level functions have it or not.ย

That's what I'd be comparing to, how entry level positions compare.ย

Because if unlimited PTO is a matter of seniority and tenure, you'll get there.
