Is LinkedIn faker than fake?

Who else feels like LinkedIn has become ridiculous with people posting just to post? There is definitely still quality content, but people writing there posts like click bate, made up stories, and “experts” around every corner has made it tough to see what’s real out there. I’d like to see a bullshit filter tool by LinkedIn, although I’m not sure how you would create one.

hahaha, I would love a 'bullshit filter' on LinkedIn. The only way to keep your feed bullshit-free is to go into everyone you are following and unfollow a majority of them on there. So that way you are limiting it to people who you know produces good content.

Other than that, I'm afraid the bullshit will prevail on your feed haha

Unfortunately you have to actively create and maintain your own bullshit filter via the "unfollow" feature. Looking for an algorithm to do the heavy lifting in the future. SOMEONE from LinkedIn has to be seeing this.

My LI feed has slowly become a battleground for thought leadership (looking at you: Gong, Dooly, Chorus, Chili Piper, Clari, Outreach). Definitely good stuff in there, but often times the "hot takes" and "6 steps.." drown out the gems.

Its all about grooming who you follow - don't confuse this with who you are connected with. I just did a big Linkedin Purge and now the people that come up on my feed are the people I actually want to see and hear about. It was quite therapeutic.

So I see it differently.

Take some ownership of your feed.

Stop expecting a machine to solve your content concerns based on your previous choices of who to connect with, follow, etc.

You clicked the buttons to get where you are, click the buttons again to get where you want to be.

Yeah, I post a ton, but it's good for business and from what people tell me, good for the community.

If you don't like me, unfollow, block, disconnect.

Last thought, if you don't like the fluff, call it out, say something in the comments to disagree.

Its the comments that make the posts more interesting than the post itself in most cases.

BTW recently saw a post from a popular LinkedIn sales guru on how to post every day step by step. WTF????

And I'm fed up with those fake staged videos where something "heart-piercing" happens and at the end, a big brutal guy palms his eyes as this shit made him cry and everyone in the comments says "Brilliant! Such a story! I wish there were more people like you".

I don't have any social media other than LI; been on there 11 years and I've seen the steep decline to crap content quickly. Makes me seriously question whether I want to stay on LI anymore. You can unfollow certain connections and the bs content will still find a way into your feed. Thank the lord for WR, @sahil and @GeneralCorp for putting together a genuine forum for the sales people, by the sales people!!!
