Not to be taken as advice, but during the call I would be like "oh you know well enough that I'm irreplacable, so don't go too hard on those guys".

After the call, if you really took it seriously, send a call invitation and ask them if they really meant what they said by that and that you would prefer any issues with your performance to be handled directly with you first. Listen to their response. Look for opportunities outside of your current workplace.

However, if it's always you that's made to feel small to make them feel big I'd book a 121, bring it up and depending on their answer, start hashing out what's lying deeper here... from there you can devise your next steps.
