Is the grass greener?

Hey Warriors,

Currently enjoy my job and the company I work for, however with the rest of my RSU's vesting next February it has got me thinking about the next move. I'm not saying I want to leave just to chase a paycheck or potential growth, but I have seen plenty of people leave after the acquisition of our company it looks like its working out for them. Plenty of places say they have "great company culture" and "sweet benefits" but I'm curious to hear about real experiences. Would love to hear advice about what makes a career move worthwhile to you and whether or not you were happy after making the move from one company to another.

Cheers

The grass may be greener, but as long as you're in sales there's no field/pasture free of bullshit.

If you can find a job where you're learning more or growing more, it might be time to jump ship.

It can be. It's usually not easy to ascertain that until you work at the company.Β  Here's my thought process when job hunting.Β

When I've considered the following I've always been happy with the decision. When I chase a larger check or a name/title, I hated it.Β

My rules before moving are;
1. Will this move help you move up in the future? Accomplish your goal of learning about a category? Focus on the long term benefit.
2..Product( are they going to make lots if money, own a space etc etc)
3..Do they value your time? You can learn a lot about a company by how they treat you before you're even hired. Avoid time wasters, long decision makers. These people are either full of it, or have nothing going on.

A month ago I just left a jobΒ  that was great for one that looked awesome. Now I realize it isn't awesome and I'm returning to my old job in a couple of weeks.

A scorecard of non-negotiables, nice to have and how these things align with my career goals.
One time, I changed companies for more money, but I was miserable, so I left after 1.5 years
