Is the product I know better than I product I don’t know?

Has anyone here gotten to be a true product expert, only to be given an opportunity to start new?

For instance, I have been slaying this product for many years. Many presidents clubs and great $$. BUT a new opportunity has come around. New product and obviously new risks but also a lot more potential for growth in the long run.

Do you stay with what you know and ride the wave or do you jump in deep with a brand new product and start from the bottom?

I have always believed if you can can sell, you can sell anything but it’s all brand new. Learning curve here.

All experiences greatly appreciated.

If you still have a path to make $$$$$ selling a product you know, why start over?

I know! That’s my thought but what if this new path leads to even more money eventually?

Yes. I was incredibly knowledgeable about this first product I sold. I eventually left though because it was getting harder and harder to make good money. I think it would depend how much you're making. Is good money to you $100k or are we talking $500k? That probably dictates the answer.

You’re so right. We’re talking like 135k. And honestly? I know there is more to be made out there in sales with my experience and skills. It’s just scary sometimes to start from the bottom, rebuild a pipeline and territory.

Yeah, I don't know what you sell but my base is higher than that. You could probably get your base to six figures.

If you can sell you can sell period. That being said, a lot of it comes down to the companies training, resources, tech stack so I think mixing it up is worth the risk but make sure you ask questions so you can find out if the company has the resources, training, and tech stack you know you can succeed with.

Depends if you're happy or not, if you're happy and making money, why move?

I wouldn't jump if the new company has more growth opportunities. If you can sell, you can always go back.
