Is there a sense of elitism within SaaS sales?

Want to open the table to this discussion.

So some of the best salespeople that I know work in D2D, Solar and pest. They're absolute monsters when they get on the doors and go to close business.

But being and working in SaaS, for some reason I feel like there's a sense of "elitism"? That exists within our space, maybe it's the cheesy linkedin influencers, maybe it's the guaranteed salaries, i'm not too sure myself honestly.

Do you think this exists?

Think it depends on the person/ company, but most of the time if someone is trying to be an elitist they suck

Being an elitist because you work in a particular field is jackassadry. It means your work defines you which is lame.

Amen. I feel like I got much better at sales when I detached my worth from the outcome of dealsย

I don't think its SaaS sales specifically. More like tech in general...full of snowflakes, SJW, etc

I personally don't feel this...I think it's just a result of the optics. SaaS is one of, if not the fastest growing spaces and is never NOT in the news, in some way. The publicity alone causes a hyper focus on all the ways that make the SaaS world turn; sales being towards the top of that list.ย

It may be more of a b2b vs b2c thing than purely SaaS. The best sales question I've ever been asked was by someone who worked inside sales for a storage facility. I called while driving to ask about pricing. I can't remember the objection, but I told him I couldn't do something because I was driving and he said something along the lines of ""well, you went out of your way to call while driving, so this is obviously important. We have a facility close by, head over there and they'll get you the unit you need."ย

Lmfao yeah I feel this way.ย

Most of my coworkers come from privilege (myself included) and we fail to recognize it. Part of it stems from lack of conversation with salespeople in other industries.ย

I have mad respect for people who hustle d2d and f2f in the sun while I'm cold calling in my spare room of my AC apartment.ย
