Is there anything more tone deaf than this???

I know someone at Okta.

Today Okta announced a RIF that impacted tons of folks, same day this person I know at Okta posted to LI that they have been promoted.

This reads to me as: "Company sucks right now and people got RIF'd, but I'm doing great."

As someone in that position (not with a big name), not something I would think about that often. Maybe timing isn't perfect however I imagine it would be heard through the grapevine either way

If you got promoted, you have the right to tell people you were promoted. Timing may be shitty but the person isn’t in the wrong here, IMO.

I do not see this as tone deaf at all. For the people on the rif it’s a bit too early but all good in my book.
lol I know someone at okta too! Last year one deal they made over 400k. I looked at their postings for positions and my area and it seemed like every 2-3 months the position was open again.
