Is Vidyard Worth the Cost?

some background, my company recently has a decided to look at Vidyard as an option for our new digital sales department. basically Vidyard is a way ti share personalize videos, normally 30-50sec, to try and engage prospects with a more personized message.Seems that the only try and true cold call/email isn't working anymore.

I'm part of the team that is trialing it for the whole company. Would like to know if anyone has any experience with this product and if there has been a higher rate of success with it.

I was at a company that tried a few years ago, EdTech, didn't really yield much.

We have used a different video outreach platform, but I'm sure it performed similarly. The amount of time, as an AE, I had to spend in what I would consider "production time" from making sure the setting was right, the talking points were polished and personal, and that I wasn't being interrupted by street noise, house noise, etc., was cumbersome. All to put together a video that might get caught in SPAM or not even viewed. Granted, I didn't typically use it for cold outbound; I used it as a warm touchpoint to mix things up, but honestly, I'd rather just pick up the phone and call.

personally I think video prospecting is a joke. Partially because of how spam filters on emails work. A LOT of email accounts will see the size of the email, that there is an attachment, and that the email is from someone outside of their org, and then either quarantine or spam the email so the prospect will never see it.

I also don't see it being scalable. Trying to make a custom video for every single prospect? I don't have that kind of time. And if you aren't making the video super custom tailored to the prospect I don't see it really helping much.

Maybe I'm just a negative person when it comes to this sort of thing because I'm not creative enough to do it. But from my research on it, that's my take on it.

I have heard good things about it, but nothing to truly speculate on.

At this point in time, is it really "shiny new object"? ;)

I see a lot of comments saying it’s not worth it, but I was resistant to using vidyard for MONTHS and finally started using it in order to show the prospect how our tech can help while on their actual website.

basically I use it to advise them on how we can help- show them the gaps we could fill.

I started using it in April and to date, it’s helped me bring in $2.1M pipeline (our sales cycle is about 9mo, I’ll let you know how much closes.)

happy to show you my method and help you strategize on how to approach it for your company :)

I’ve only used the free version and I didn’t use it for prospecting. I’ve used it to go over the proposal and cover some FAQs after already doing discovery. You’ll quickly realize it can be a pain in the ass and I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

Not for cold prospecting. When I was an AE I would use it to help answer any post-demo followup questions.

I use a personal account for a competitor of theirs. I've sent about 500 personalized outbound prospecting videos and got 3 responses. So, personally, I can't get it to work for prospecting.

However, it's extremely useful in the mid stages of a sales process for recaps and follow ups. I've won competitive deals where they've told me consistently that the videos were extremely helpful along the way.

The outbound sales team tried to go with Vidyard, it works only if it is used as real customization, not "customization" (sending generic videos that leave out the name of the person).

End of story - it was too time-consuming to be used in outbound. Works great on inbound though.
