It's Friday and I'm bored

For those of you that aren't working hard today, do you know details about how your plans are weighed against overall company attainment and industry average? I've never had a sales leader initiate a discussion so I'm getting curious about how many of you have these details. For example, if all reps are only hitting at 70%, does the company still attain 100%?

Do you know?

If you are talking about the overall company goal chances are yes (accordingly to me) because of the retention and growth from the existing customers

Right, makes sense! Would you mind sharing (obviously or specifics), just plan %s?

It’s probably abnormal, and we’re small, but it’s basically 1:1.

We typically only ever know when there is a problem, then we get an idea for how we as a sales team can solve said problem through revenue.

Yeah, management knows to bake in missed targets to set expectations. Often enough 30%+ reps don’t hit quota (look at Q3)

yes every time i have seen this, the company is banking on AEs NOT hitting 100% of quota.

when i was a manager in financial services, this is how it worked for me too. I did not have to have reps that crushed it for me to do well. just a few reps that did ok.

Complete bonkers! I guess I always instinctively assumed this but I was jarred actually hearing this is common. Haha I’ve heard ALL about financial services sales - what a world 😂

Yes, we know. The company number is not the same as 100% of quota.

This next year most companies revenue goals will align more closely with rep quota but that hasn’t been the case over the last decade. They’re modeling out new logo carr, expansion, intrQ, churn. They’re also looking at rep participation and efficiency ratios. There’s a ton that goes into it and they expect some percentage over rep quota. (This is over simplified by a mile)

I don't get the info directly, although I've never asked. However, I know what the companies goal is and they send out a ranking sheet that lists every reps individual targets and attainment so I could figure it out pretty easily.

Usually a VP or director number isn't 100% of the team quota as it's rare that each team member hits their number. I have seen the number be 70-80% of the team number when combined.

My company is still technically in the startup stage (about to seek our Series C) so they're really transparent about our goals and investor expectations, as well as if we're on track to meet those. We usually meet once a quarter as a full sales team to discuss.
