It’s happening…interviewing at Salesforce…

I got hit up by a LI recruiting message, taking the plunge, starting the interview process at Salesforce for an AE role.

Does anyone have any advice for your boy or any warnings for stuff to look out for?

Ask about quota attainment and to speak with current reps. Salesforce is a good brand and healthy ecosystem but I have heard some murmurings a lot of people aren't hitting quota.

I can confirm this. I was told 30% when I interviewed (got 3 rounds deep). They said it was a skewed number because of internal movement up and down. Seems people don’t stay in place there very long.
Be sure you can speak to team selling in your background, that’s a big thing.
Best of luck.

Yeah I head that too. Lots of people from my company are flocking to SF so I have some homies that’ll tell it to me straight

I’m on that team, happy to chat if you want. What region are you in?

Oh nice, that's awesome. I'm west coast, based out of LA. Would love to chat actually, this is a super passive job conversation, my current job is solid and I've been here a long while and can ride hard on my knowledge and experience, but......you know, money and stuff, and it's SFDC, so gotta see what they're offering and I'd be a fool to not consider it

Look at you guys, the SFDC old boys club. You’re all so cute with your corporate titles and high bases. I’m not jealous, you’re jealous!

I have a few friends that do or have worked there. Some loved it and others hated it. @CoorsKing knows more but it sounds like the team you land on and the market you sell to makes a huge difference, so dig on that.

Dont have all your eggs in one basket. I'd apply to a shit ton of other jobs as well, look up high growth/early state SaaS companies as well. Same as security software space. Even if Salesforce is a good fit, you can use other offers as leverage in negotiating your salary with SF.

Oh I’m a passive candidate, I have a great gig now, SF threw out a higher base and as a salesperson, I’m basically a whore chasing money, and SF is Richard Gere trying to get to the Beverly Wiltshire Hotel

Big leagues!

Curious what their options packages are like.

I've always aimed for Pre-IPO firms.

I don't think so yet, but knowing these baller geniuses at Bravado something slick will come out soon. And the thing that i keep thinking about is that i really struggle to find reasons to leave my current job, but money is the main reason i do things, and SF is SF, so let me see if they even like me and then go from there haha

My coworker just got a job there and then they came after me. 2 interviews in they said I didn’t have enjoyed closing and full sales cycle experience and I’m not interviewing for a BDR role. I have 1 interview left and not sure I’ll take it if I do get the offer.
I’ve heard they are strict on not hitting quota and slipping forecast. I’d ask what the top reps and lowest reps are hitting and why. Lots of other great advice on here - good luck!

Yeah I've heard that too, and that a lot of people aren't hitting quota. Thanks so much to everyone, such awesome advice, will follow up with y'all and let you know how it goes!

Ask what territory they're hiring for, why are they hiring for it now (rep leaving? why?), or new geo altogether (not likely w/ SFDC). If a previously owned territory what was the account penetration from previous AE in that patch, Avg sales cycle length and deal size in that patch, Team quota attainment percentage, and lead flow (marketing, sd, self sourced).

Aside from that NEGOTIATE your offer. This is your first chance to sell. You're worth more than they offer, make them up the equity or cash, just like closing a deal, the price you first say isn't always where you land, they'll lowball to see if you just bite and they can keep the extra cash on hand.
