Jobs outside of sales?

Hey guys,

I'm getting a little tired of working sales and dream of the day that I don't have to spend all day speaking to clients but I feel completely trapped in this career path.

I know I'm going to take a pay hit but the money doesn't matter to me considering how tiring/stressful the role can be.

Does anyone have any advice on which roles are easy to transition into from an AE role but don't pay absolute peanuts?

Customer Success and sales/rev ops are the first things that come to mind for me, maybe I'm biased but having someone that worked in sales contributing to the ops team is a huge plus in my book.

Would be helpful if you can outline what you like and dont like in sales though to make a real recommendation.ย

Yeah that was my first thought as well - I'm interested in integrations and helping set up sales tools, I'm also working on an Advanced Excel course and want to do my Salesforce Administrator with a view to opening up more doors to sales/revenue ops roles. I am not really seeing many entry level sales ops roles being advertised though so not sure if that'll be enough to jump in the deep end.

You'll never know until you try! Sounds like sales enablement could be a fit too if you want to work on tools to make AE's more successful.ย

It sounds like you would enjoy in sales ops. Another option if you like working in excel is to learn SQL and aim for an analyst role. Failing that, sales enablement might also be an option for you

Customer success/Account management seems like a natural transition but is still basically sales.

If you're doing SaaS sales and are pretty involved in the product demo or implementation side of things you could try pivoting into a sales engineer role or professional services role. Base pay is typically higher, there may still be commissions but it's certainly not sales.

If you want to go full dark side you could always try marketing...
