Join the dark side?

Hey Savages,

I see a lot of people talking about how LI posting has changed their life/carreer.

I've always refused to do it because I think 99.9% of LI posts fit one of the following:
- Made up story
- Self virtuous bragging BS
- Unauthentic crap

However, I'd like to see if I can get some meetings/build pipeline by consistently posting.

What bothers me about it is that I wouldn't be able to always express my real thoughts and would need to adhere to the political correct BS vibe that LI has.

I don't care as long as it gets results though, im willing to sell my body for meetings if I have to. Jk... maybe.

What do y'all think? Is it worth it?

P.S. I'm not expecting huge results but even 1-2 meetings per month from it would be nice.

More money and more importantly, I'm really focused on knocking it out the part and become an AE.

It took me some time to find a good company after going through two terrible ones and feel like now I finally have the chance for my performance to have a real impact on my carreer.

Is it worth it to join the dark side?

I lead a team of SDRs. Book at least 1 meeting almost every week and pass it on to them. Spend 30 mins every single day. ROI is pretty good if you know what you're doing.

Love it. Do you lead an ENT or SMB team? And in what industry if I may ask.

BDRs handle all 3 sizes for now: SMB, MM and ENT. Let's say, we sell majorly to marketing departments.

be selective yo. choose the ones which are active on linkedin, have detailed KRAs in their profiles. Find 100 such people. Send 'em blank connect requests. Even with a 5:1 hit ratio for acceptances, you'd have 20 connections to get 2 to 3 meetings from. Quite do-able.

Are you selling to salespeople? Because we're the only ones looking at LinkedIn.

Great point, I’ll add that. I’m selling to marketers. They should be pretty active on LI, right?

If you have something valuable to say, then why not? Otherwise, it's just noise.

I think I do have valuable things to say but sometimes it might be just noise. 75%-25% ratio let's say lol

LI is such a circle jerk, but as long as you don’t invest too much time it might be worth it.

Haha, perfectly described. I like what someone said. Spend 30 min on it per day, that way it doesn't become a distraction.

At the end of the day, posting more isn't going to hurt as long as what you're posting is something of value

Let me elaborate, I'd try my best to be authentic and i think I'd be to a certain level.

I just feel like it'd be a watered-down version.

1- are you connected to people who’d give you meetings if you posted on LI?

2- do you think your content would be compelling enough for someone to reach out to you on LI?

1. I just started selling to marketing after mainly selling to HR in my career.

So, most of my contacts are HR, which would not fit my criteria. However, I'd definitely be adding more of my ICPs in the next weeks and months as I advance in this new industry.

2. I believe I could find compelling content to post. If not compelling enough to reach out I'd hope they at least find it insightful enough so that if they check out my profile after my initial reach out they accept the meeting.

Like being the little thing that pushes someone over the fence when they are not sure about whether or not to take the meeting.

Remember, anything that gets attention brings your postings and profile higher when people search for anything associated with you or your job. Getting eyeballs only helps that.

Thank you, great point. Reminds me of "All publicity is good publicity." to a certain extent obviously, haha.

I personally had no success with it. I know a lot of people have though. I think it largely depends on your market, having a huge network on LI, and who your ICP is and if they're the type of person to actually spend a lot of time on it.

I believe where it fell flat for me is that I sell to people who work directly in the data center. They aren't the kind of guys to spend much time if any on the app unless it's on the jobs section so it didn't really work for me. I could be wrong here, just my takeaway from it.

Yeah i mean it could be. But if you are trying to get meetings for your product because of your content, you are going to need to have a point of view and make it unique. So being expressing your real thoughts is exactly what you need.

Feel like it can easily become a chore and not so fruitful. Could also be way wrong… I’m not an influencer idk

I don't know for you guys but I love LinkedIn, I spend too much time on it but it does provide results as I get in contact with C-levels and get some meeting each week this way.

If you don't like to spend too much time on it you can automate some of your tasks, by using PhantomBuster for example.

Like anything in sales and marketing, test it out. Try at least 10 posts, vary it up, and try to build on what got the most traction.

Linkedin is great for SDRs. A professional photo and a few kind words will help tell prospects that you may be someone they want to talk to. Having mutuals is excellent too.

You don't have to create content; Feel free to network and keep in touch with work friends.

From what I know, LinkedIn has always been a long-game approach. If you book constantly things about the industry and try not to look like just another salesperson trying to push a product, more than likely you'll have success on LI.
