Joining a recently acquired company. Good or bad idea?

I got an offer from a company that was recently acquired and the founders have left the company to go start a new venture. To me this is kind of a red flag. Thoughts on this?

Not an immediate red flag, but deffo would recommend getting some on the ground info.

Maybe try reaching out to a current SDR to get their take on it?

I've been through several acquisitions previously. Some have been fantastic and some have been miserable.

I don't think this is an automatic red flag... So much has to do with WHY you were acquired. Was it simply for the IP? Are they looking to grow in a specific market segment?

Add some details (without revealing too much 🙂)!

They were acquired because they are looking to add that line of business to supplement existing products they currently offer. The company that was acquired is also toward the bottom in terms of size compared to others in the market so it may be a challenge to grow to the extent of its competitors.

If you don't already know, I'd try to get some more insight into what made that buyer the best buyer to acquire the company. Personally if they held the same values and goals as the company I was hired into, I'd be a bit more relaxed about the situation but if they're looking to completely revamp the company, I'd be cautious af.

The outcome depends on how you handle change...because there’s no way that things don’t change from a process and culture perspective after acquisition.

I'd research it more before making a decision.
