Junior in college: advice wanted

Whats up yall, I'm going to to be going into my Junior year of college this fall. I'm currently doing an internship over the summer at a decent tech company. I know that I want to go into sales but I'm gonna want to move to a different city with more opportunity to kick off my career.

Assuming I want to move to Chicago to start off my career out of school, would it be a good idea to take an internship at a company in Chicago next summer? I currently live about 6 hours away from Chicago so I would have to find a place to stay to intern out there. Also does anyone have any recommendations for software companies in Chicago to look into?

Any advice that anyone can provide me would be super helpful.

Thanks!

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
NetSuite, FinancialForce, Salesforce have sizable presences in Chicago. I believe NetSuite and Salesforce both have intern programs that lead directly to jobs.

A number of bigger schools offer summer dorm living across the country so I'd look into that.

There's a ton of stuff downtown, Adobe, SalesForce, Forte, there's probably more you can Google. Anything from the West Loop toward the lake will be really nice. You can also do an short term air bnb for a few months, check out some Facebook Groups too for people looking for roommates.

The long term AirBnb idea is smart, never would’ve thought of that tbh.

My cousin does it with his apartment a lot when he travels, it's a little pricier, but it can be a much better way to live. It's all about your preference and what you're able to afford as well.

Start networking on LinkedIn with managers, directors, and other other sales folks at any companies you're interested that are in your area.

Let them know your intentions and eventually you'll land something.
