Prospect really well and keep your funnel full so when shit falls through you dont have all of your eggs in that basket and can "afford" to lose it.

This is sales, its going to happen so have 5 others lined up and you wont think twice about it.

Create more pipeline....

When I have more in the pipeline, I care a bit less because my energy and focus get distributed

Remember that for every deal you deserved to win and didn't there will be a deal you didn't deserve to win and will.

These are tough to swallow. It’s easier said than done, but not getting attached to these on the front-end and constantly having somewhat of a pessimistic outlook through the process helps to soften the blow. Pessimism will ironically help you quality harder throughout as well. Sales makes you a pissed off person, so just embrace it 😆

I remember I had a guy admit once that I gave the better demo, have a superior product, and better pricing, and then he went with a competitor and he literally could not articulate why.
Sometimes life just goes that way.

Drink.
Also, if anyone asks about the deal say things like, 'I never said that was coming in' or 'why would I make something like that up?' Gaslighting your peers will allow proper distraction.

Oh mate, sorry.

BUT - think about the last time something shit happened and then think about the good thing that happened after!

Silver linings my friend.

They probably weren't worth your time anyway.

Sorry to hear it. Take it on the chin. Make sure you learn something. And move on to the next one.

I lost a year-changing deal last year where we were the front-runner. It hurt but you gotta move on and hit your number.

But seriously. Those suck. Keep on chugging though — you’ll get them eventually, especially if your product is solid and you can show them in 3 years what they’ve been missing out on.

This always sucks. Just focus on the next.

You got this.

Personally, I always assume I'm going to lose the deal and this way when they close it's a pleasant surprise, you can do the same thing with trying to get lucky when you go out at a bar and it's really fun when you go on a streak.

A guy punch we’ve all taken. Take your 10 mins to sulk, and move on to the next. My trick is to call a great client and just “check in” after something like that. They’ll give you your confidence boost that you’re looking for, then you can prospect with pride.

All problems can be solved with a FAT pipeline.

Had one of my largest deals of the quarter shrink and push to next quarter. Same week another small deal 4xd and made up the gap.

I just put together my pipeline for next quarter and thought “wow, I have a really good shot at closing all of these”… and that was the moment I remembered that it NEVER happens that way, haha

The only guaranteed thing in sales is that you will lose deals.

Accept this reality, build pipeline, and realize that in many cases there is nothing you could have materially done to change the decision. I've lost deals because the prospect literally though a competitor's UI was "prettier."

As a 20-year veteran, the same industry that gives you "hallelujah deals" is the same industry that will bottom out on you too.  I've had deals just fall out of the sky and land right on my desk with very little work needed.  I've also had deals that I worked like a goddamn mad man on and it didn't go anywhere.  Sales come in waves.  Don't let a single deal affect your mindset.  Real professionals can dust themselves off and get their asses back out there.

Yeah that legit just happened to me today. Not thrilled about it, I do see where it went wrong though and I’ll never do that bullshit again

Step 1 Closed Lost
Step 2 Set Follow Up Task 6 Months
Step 3 Pretend they never existed

Sorry to hear! Never fun to lose and it can be hard when you're banking on a win- but as a sales professional you know the risks involved. Never closed won until it is!
