Just started a new job but offered an interview at a higher paying one

The title pretty much says it all. I just started a new Enterprise AE position that was a pretty hefty pay bump from my last position but one recruiter just got back to me to start the interview process. This opportunity would pay about 50k more in just base but the commission would be a percentage of sales, with a smaller growing company, longer sales cycle and more complicated products. Should I take the interview and see what happens or just focus on the new role?

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
You can do this once in your career. You're absolutely going to burn some bridges. You better be damn sure if you decide to take the other role.

Fully agree here--if you use this card now, and it doesn't work out, you're going to be in a tough spot.

I had a friend do this and it worked out quite well for them - but yeah you get one shot and that's it.

Yeah true. But does it hurt to go through with the interview just to see? Not guaranteed to get the job

50k more just in base, as long as I could almost guarantee a decent company culture I would take it. But that 50k bump may not be worth the hell hole of working for a shitty company

Current company has a 9 month ramp period while there would be no ramp at the other one

That's another layer to the onion as well. Some companies allow you to hit accelerators faster while ramping and you can earn bonuses much easier as you hit a lower quota during your ramp period. Whereas other companies don't pay shit during your ramp period unless you hit a full ramp number.

Yeah the current job allows you to overattain on the ramp and earn accelerators

So I would also weigh what you could pull in during those 9 months if you're a killer

Evaluate your founding team and everyone you will be working with. Make sure you believe in the people and product before you jump ship. It doesn’t hurt to interview. Also, you have more than one shot at this. You can leave your current company off your resume. Life is short!

Other than more money, are there any other benefits vs current company?

Current job is in the telco space, has brand recognition, investing a lot into the enterprise space, pays for an online masters program. New opportunity is for big data analytics, just starting to grow their sales org, innovative solution, no out of pocket cost for health insurance

Big data analytics is really competitive. Are they on the Gartner MQ?

That’s a good question. I don’t see them on there. No sure if you should say company names on here but it starts with a P and ends with tir
