Just started a role but offered a new role with double pay

Just started a job 2 weeks in for a Mid market AM role, OTE 160k 50/50 split.

everything seems really good so far but I was also just offered a Strategic AM role 320 OTE 50/50 split. My base at the new role would be my OTE in my current role. My current manager is a really nice guy both products are must have products and Series C startups. Should i take the new role even though i just start this role and everything is going well or stay in my current role?

Just as fast as you would switch jobs is just as fast as your current company could let you go. We have seen this happen THOUSANDS of times in the last month alone.

Do what is right for you and your family.

How big will the fire be if you leave the current role, and do you want to burn that bridge?

What does attainment look like at either role? Are you at risk of taking the larger base just to get smashed in the face with underperformance and a quick fire?

As someone in a leadership role, would you be mad at someone who did this? If they say my base/OTE is doubled. I would think most would completely understand. Not happy but they would understand.

Completely agree the 160k base company cant be a complete shit show but you can leave somewhat graciously and be welcome back at the company with 80k base.

the team Iโ€™m currently on is tracking towards 116%+ attainment. My manager said typically reps finish around 150% above quota. in this economy that speak to their strong product market fit. The other company Iโ€™m not sure what the attainment is but according to repview itโ€™s around 50%.

If I was your current manager and found out you'd been given such a good offer, I'd completely understand why you'd move, all else being equal. Do what's best for you.

Always helps to reverse:
what would your boss do if he found someone with your exact skills for the half the money...they would hire that person and working on transitioning you out...

So. Be open and honest and then make your move.

uhm this isn't even a question and any logical person will get why you are moving to the other role. I would tell the current company exactly what you have written here. also congrats

No brainer for me, ultimately you should care more about you and your career. I would definitely going to take this leap unless the current company is willing to match it up.

Always keep the bridges intact when making a move so I'd inform your current boss about the new opp and give him a chance to match or beat. Otherwise, congrats on both roles.

Definitely I would go for the new role no brainer.

However, just because of you have a nice manager you need to let him know the situation first and since he is that friendly, I don't think that he would mind to let you take the advantage of the better offer and assure him that your current company will be always the second place to come back to if you ever thought of a job change again .

And hopefully by doing so you would be allowed to rejoin if things didn't go well at the new role.

Best of luck!

I think everyone on your team will understand you leaving for a role with double the base. You can leave on somewhat good terms, yeah they wont be happy but they would understand

These decisions are difficult, but will only get more so as you continue in your current role. Let your manager know that you received an offer that you just canโ€™t walk away from and that you want to minimize the impact on him in any way you can. Donโ€™t drag it out and increase their investment in you.
