Lack of Integrity

As the only SDR, I just had to leave my company this week because two weeks before the end of the quarter my VP of Sales changed my KPIs after I hit the KPIs that we agreed on when I was hired. The new KPIs were unattainable.  I landed at a way better company. Had anyone ever experienced anything like this in your career.

That´s why you put KPI´s in writing. Even if they only tell them to you verbally. Put in in a mail asking if you got it right. They should confirm.

You had KPIs in writing, yes?

It was verbally told to me and located in a sales play book they gave me the first day

Hmm.  In hindsight, that may have been a mistake.

This has happened to me to an extent, where every once and a while if I’m consistently hitting my KPIs they will raise them, but nothing way to crazy.

they have also put them back down in instances where they raise them and no one reaches them.

Think you made the right decision there - I've been in the position where I had to fight higher management every other quarter as they kept changing my team's (SDRs) KPIs and commission structures. In the end I was done fighting and moved on to a new gig.

Oh and then the same happened - but then mostly for my own structures, so guess what - I made another move.

So look, don't stay anywhere where they try and dupe you.. If you can go to another place (and I guess most of us can), just go. Don't wast your time.

This happens more than it should. With that said you did the right thing and left when it was clear they did this in poor faith.

I don’t think there’s an issue changing KPIs but it’s definitely not something you can do on the fly (without speaking to the person and having them acknowledge) or to manipulate someone’s earnings (which sounds like your case).

My old company did this almost every quarter. Gets old real quick to say the least. But, it’s probably to be expected when you’re employee #1-10 if I had to take a guess.

Good job on finding another role quickly. That's a gigantic red flag

I've definitely been there. I learned that everything needs to be on paper and even then some companies will try and bullshit you.
