Laid off after 2 years as a contractor and worried about Q4 pay

I recently was laid off and am wondering how I can ensure I get paid for Q4 commissions and receive severance as it is a grey area how my company calculates commissions.

Do you have a contract? You should have this clearly spelled out.

This is always the answer.
Beyond that, you'll have to talk to a lawyer.

Never heard of 1099 severance. The commission part? That should be in your agreement.

What were you told at time of layoff? If you’re in the states they had to tell you, or maybe just full time employees get that bit.

What country are you in? If you have in writing somewhere how much you’re owed take some screenshots so the company can’t go change it (happened to me)

Doubt you'll get severance as a contractor but could potentially still get your commish - check your contract. Good luck.

If my employer has had lack of inventory for several months due to horrible planning and I haven’t been able to hit sales quota due to lack of inventory. I have about 2 months worth of goals in open POs. Should the company pay me commission?
