Laid off and now getting Low balled

I have just recently been laid off by my company due to cost reduction, and I quickly found some grounding with another similar organisation, but the package the org is offering is way below what I was getting, is there a way to accept this new role, get committed to it for 2 years and possibly bounce back to another role to get my original worth, any thoughts?

Yeah, the market is low balling as there are a bunch of people laid off and the market isn’t as frothy. Just keep your options open if you accept it and jump with the better offer. Always be interviewing and make the best decision for you.

I agree but when you do land a new job, stick it out for a year at least. Then weigh out your options.

Yes this is totally an option. You can also try to negotiate it to a what you are getting now.

How long have you been in the job you are getting laid off from?

Sorry to hear about this BTW, not a fun spot to be in.

Thank you, I was only in the company for a year, and I was doing really well, they decided to shut down the entire APAC division, and resell via a partner.

i see. If you had been there longer than a year it might be easier to negotiate up to your current spot but its still worth a shot

The market is turning, and it’s not going to come up for air for a bit. I’d keep interviewing for a bit and try to find the best offer that works for you. Unless your in a financial pinch - then counter the offer this company made, get the most out of them, and take the gig with keeping your eyes open

Yes, there's a way, and you can also ask for more, based on your value.

Question:  are you also exploring other opportunities?  Do you have the possibility of getting additional offers?

Take a job now to get more than Unemployment pays but use it as a paid job search till you find something better.

I think it's worth it to get what you can of course, but always put feelers out, even when comfortable. You never know. You're life could change overnight.

Accept it and keep looking. No problem to get paid now, even if low, then bounce in 2-months when you get what you're looking for.

Employers literally do this to employees all the time.

Negotiate and take the gig unless you have more options available to you. The market has a ton of sales ppl who were recently laid off so the leverage is on the hiring companies. Just weigh the risks and see what's out there. I've always taken the offer and then kept looking.
