Don't take it personally. If the company is laying off salespeople they're likely doomed anyway.

Get some exercise/fresh air.

Polish resume and start applying on Monday.

1) Always debrief constructively:

- Don’t beat yourself up, no matter what. It happens, life goes on.  Your mindset is the most important thing you own. Keep it healthy, keep it strong.

2) Don’t miss the lesson:

- If you weren’t performing, and you know it’s true, don’t sweep it under the carpet. It’s worth being aware of, it’s worth feeling the pain of what happens when you don’t perform. Don’t let it happen again.

- If being let go was down to any other reason, don’t miss that lesson either. Don’t work with bad leaders/companies/products again. Don’t make decisions based solely on comp or perks, etc.  Your mileage will vary.

3) Dust yourself off and move on:

- Simple stuff. Recharge, reset, clean up that resume. Your new pipeline are applications, your new product is yourself. Get prospecting!

Good luck!

Thanks for this advice - I wasn't doing well but neither was anyone on the team so learning from it was a bit tough.

I think my biggest learning was addressing the problem early on rather than waiting until it was too late.

Also going to make sure my next company has more structure in place - might shift away from startups for a bit. or at least those with - 100 employees

Get your resume updated and start sending it out. Reach out to friends and former colleagues. Don’t waste a single day.

Also, apply for unemployment. It exists for exactly this reason.

Reach out to any connections you have at other sales orgs, polish up the resume, and take tomorrow to let your stress melt off (if you can).

When I was searching the articles on here where somewhat helpful.

Consider yourself grateful that you were in that 1/3rd. I'd much rather be in your position than the reps that had to stay - imagine the pressure they're going to be under.

Companies are going to understand that as you go into the job search. Have fun with it; great jobs are simple to come by right now, so don't sell yourself short.

Good luck @Beanss

I was kind of thinking about that this weekend, things were getting sort of crazy there and the stress was getting a tad out of control for everyone.

I am taking some time to find the right company this time around.

Take this as what it is, an opportunity.

Take some time and reflect on what you want in your next career move, get outside and go to the gym, visit with your friends and family, and if you want to start searching right away then get after it and make it your full time job.

There are so many companies hiring that you will find one in no time.

Don't feel shy.  Your friends usually get a monetary bonus if the referral is a successful hire. So it's  a win-win!
