Layoff PTSD?

Anyone have layoff ptsd like me? Not trying to make light of PTSD but ive been getting a lot of praise at work lately but my last 1-on-1 with my manager gave me weird vibes like something is on my bossโ€™ mind that heโ€™s not communicating with me while also seemingly taking greater interest in assessing the ROI of the resources im leveraging and how things are allocated with me specifically. I didnโ€™t do or say anything regrettable but my mind instantly starts reading way too much into it and catastrophizingโ€ฆ..

Anyone else or am I the only paranoid one?

Here's some honest. I can't say I'm paranoid, but I am absolutely more careful to find collaboration when making decisions that could come back and bury me. These last few years have taken the renegade out of me. It's serving me well.

My guess? If they're counting your paper clips and cutting back your business card orders, it's you boss that got the warning flag. It's when they decline to order your new cards you should worry.
You're fine.

Damn straight no lone wolf behavior. Every deal I work has visibility and coordination with execs all along the way.

Itโ€™s both CYA and transparency - but you bet I get wholehearted involvement from my VPs and CRO all the way through because they know whatโ€™s going on and what their roles are. And I benefit from additional knowledge and insight as well as other deals theyโ€™re exposed to that I may not be aware of so we can leverage intel. Win/win.

Hard to overstate the value of bringing in leadership whoโ€™s exposed to the entire funnel. ๐Ÿ’ช

It also keeps the higher ups aware of what you're accomplishing AND exactly how you're adding value, which can't hurt.

It could very well be your boss isnโ€™t communicating everything, (as a director, we canโ€™t at times) and it probably has nothing to do with you. If it does, donโ€™t dwell on it. If it comes to you THEN address it like the pro you are! Pretty sure youโ€™re all good and That is a bit too much worrying. Sounds like a bit of anxiety to be honest.
Do something in your free time that A) makes you happy B) helps you relax C) is healthy.
I try to do this daily especially when stressed

Completely understand why you might be having those concerns. Try to focus on what you can control. If youโ€™re constantly looking over your shoulder then you arenโ€™t focused on what matters.

This doesnโ€™t just apply to work, either. This is life gold, right here.

They probably are looking at cash flow, how resources get allocated and all the fun stuff, you are likely fine right now.

Yeah, Iโ€™m paranoid like this too. Totally get it. Good thing is, youโ€™re performing, so more than likely youโ€™re reading signs that arenโ€™t meant for you. They probably asked him to watch costs, or his wife yelled at him, could be any number of things not related to you. This is my antidote a lot of times, Iโ€™m reading the situation correctly but itโ€™s got nothing to do with me. Helps to cure the paranoia a bit.

I was just promoted at the beginning of this year and survived what my company says is the only layoff they have planned. I still get anxious whenever my manager throws a 1:1 onto my calendar.

Not sure Iโ€™ll ever get over it. Being on the receiving end of layoffs in the past has 100% left me with trauma

Partially that, yes. Plus, at least one of my colleagues has discovered my identity on this platform so I've been laying low for a while ๐Ÿ˜…

At the end of the day, you can only control what you can control. I realized that worrying about stuff that falls outside that circle is unnecessary and caused more harm than good. Keep your head up and show up everyday until the bell rings

I feel ya bb. I find if I'm ever comfortable - that's when shit blows up. So now I don't feel comfort, and I include many people in my big ass deals to cover my ass.

I haven't been through a layoff yet and it's always on my mind. But I try my best everyday and try and talk to colleagues regularly and make connections internally
