what does it mean to you and what are best practices to coach people out of it? I think it's subconscious positivity towards your solution but apparently it is viewed as very manipulative.
I wouldn't consider it to be manipulative if you're positioning your product/service to solve a legitimate problem that the business has.
If you overemphasize the impact the problem has on the business, I guess it could be considered manipulative, but then you're really just a sleazy salesperson.
Done right, you're simply spotlighting a problem and walking them through the ramification of said problem, to lead them to a place of understanding why your product is worth buying.
