Leave or close out the pipe?

I am currently exploring external options, for multiple reasons. I am mid stage in a few interview cycles, but recently had a rather large deal suddenly move into pipe for later this year. Think like 2-3x annual quota whale of a deal.

I am super unhappy in my current role, but the potential accelerators are very tempting.

Have any of you had something similar happen when job hunting, and what was your thought process when evaluating options?

Did you cut it quits and leave the pipe on the table, or close out and then dip?

How likely will the great white whale close?ย

Honestly, 50-60%. If it was any less I wouldn't even consider it. It is just a long time to be miserable for a 50% chance.

Yeah man. If it was like 90% then maybe. I would say it closed and was post dated signed and to be paid end of Q4, use that as signing bonus negotiation.ย

Hey @BigMeechย ,

I have a friend who was in a similar position. He had an offer with a Tier 1 company. Massively on the up, huge step up for him. But, he had some deals in play he wanted to close.ย

He was delaying the process to accept the offer trying to push it back so he could close the deals.ย

I talked him out of it. For many of the reasons in this post (lots of great advice).

He took my advice and out of the 5x deals he was hanging around to close NOT ONE of them closed in the period he was trying to delay to and AFAIK none of them have closed since.

Life is too short to hang in a job you don't like and I guarantee you won't regret following your gut if it tells you to move on ๐Ÿ’ช.
