Leaving new job after 1 month !

I don't know if some of you have experienced this already: you start a new job with certain expectations and then you realize after few weeks that it's not so "sunshine and rainbow".

In the meanwhile, you got a potential new offer lined up. And you now need to make a decision: having some faith or jump of the ship before it's too late??

in both positions I'd lead a small sales team.     and in the new company I would also start a business from scratch in a new region.

what would you look at ?

I’ve been in the situation of making a mistake in joining a company but not with leaving within a month.
That said, better to cut bait now than waste the next 6 months, provided you have somewhere to go, which seems to be the case.
You need to do what is best for you regardless the bridges you may burn.

Thanks @Pachacuti ! I particularly like the part “regardless the bridges you may burn” : I believe my current manager he’s a good person but lack some critical skills to run a company IMHO - he kinda messed up the onboarding as well which I think it’s critical for any new hire (more or less experienced)

I’ve never been in this situation, but I think perhaps it would be wise to keep on doing what your doing whilst also speaking to the staff at the other company to get a feel for the other place… perhaps speak to a variety of different people there so you get a real flavour of the culture..
Interested in this post as I’m thinking ahead if I don’t feel right at the next company I join, specifically I’m thinking ahead whether to add to CV or just say I had time off if it arises 🫣

I need to make a decision relatively soon.
It’s not worth adding 2-3 months experience in CV . You can alway mention a specialization course and also some taken time for yourself or your family

Always see if you can speak with someone on the sales team who you won't be managing in the opportunity.
Are they comparable in comp?

What's so bad about company 1?

How do you make sure company 2 isn't like company 1?

Good ones.

1) primarily, lack of organization and culture
2) that I cannot know till I’ll start (I think)

If you're leading the team isn't establishing organization and culture part of your job?

It’s not that simple to change culture. Especially if you are not the CEO

yeah. Culture is so much. but you can try. but if the CEO isn't on board there is not much u can do

Indeed. Culture, in my experience, is made top-down and not bottom-up.

What would you do if you have the opportunity to go after 1/2 months somewhere else where culture is not a issue (all the rest equal)?
