Selling to legal would not fit my personality either.
This used to be a big problem. One piece of advice is to actually read your contract and the clients before sending to legal so that you can start to suss out what will be an issue. It helps a lot to send a contract off and say “I’m sending this to legal xyz is usually an issue for us”. I think it softens the redline discussion.
Agree! Did that at one company and found that we were sending our "statements of work" when we should have been sending out "work orders" per our Master Service Agreement.

I'm so fed up with big corp legal I've started asking for draft contracts from the customer's legal dept and then redline as needed.
Decent strategy. I always get the question, "Whose paper is it on?"
Our team rejects about 20% of our contracts AFTER they are signed even once they are approved and reviewed by that team. Lord help us if the PO has terms attached to it.
