LI Sales Nav is a fucking ripoff

I pay $80/month (okay my company reimburses me) for this horeshit only to have a limit on the number of people I can add/reach out to.

LinkedIn/Microsoft are the cheapest mother fuckers on the planet and there's a special place in hell for the decision makers here.

That's it, that's the rant.

Kind regards,

paddy

Sales Nav plus Zoominfo is the secret sauce to prospecting. See if your company can cover the cost of seats and share among your team if needed.

I agree. You need a data platform and LI sales navigator to get anywhere.

It’s ironic because what I sell consolidates devops tools yet I use multiple platforms in my day to day

Idk, Lead IQ plus LINav is pretty good. All right there,  as opposed to zoominfo's whack data.  Not that lead IQ is perfect... its just pReTty...

Zoominfo has a lot of dead lines and isn’t as up to date with current roles, so I agree the data can be whack

I look at it once per day and every damn time the first thing I see is either:

"Congratulate some fucker you've never met and definitely don't care about on his work anniversary!"

or

"When I was 18 I had no job, no car, two heads and a wooden peg leg. I needed someone to give me a chance...

LinkedIn makes me want to beer funnel an entire bottle of Kahlua.

It's amazing how expensive sales nav is for a product that is either slow as shit or doesn't work 70% of the time.

My biggest beef is SalesNav and your personal LI profile are considered two separate instances. So any activity you do outside of SalesNav isn't logged, which makes it impossible to effectively keep track and prospect.

I don't understand this AT ALL.

But then they also seem to be insistent on tying your Sales Nav to your primary LI email, meaning I get alerts to my personal account instead of my work account.

So frustrating.

I think it's to lock you in, So basically one you use SalesNav you can never leave it (in your same role) or all your data is gone.

Also F them for limiting the tools that can integrate/pull data from it

I could not disagree with a post more. If you’re adding it solely for InMails, correct its a ripoff. I use it to manage leads and keep up to date on what prospects are prioritizing. It’s essential to eliminate the noise of the main feed trash that LI as a whole has become.

I haven't used it in over a year but it used to be worth it. As long as your company pays for it I'd keep using it.

ZoomInfo is pretty good too.

LI is my main prospecting tool, but I don't use inmails except in very rare cases. It's always been limited, but I built my profile and network and now I can book crazy meetings based on just looking like someone legit in the space. I connect with about 70% of the connections I make. I essentially have Nav for the lists, notifications, and the mass searches which has been totally worth it for my time. But my target market is bias'd to people who are active on LI..

You got the cheap version maybe? Idk. My company set me up with it and I have no limits. We’re also one of the largest brokerages in the country so 🤷‍♀️

I actually don’t even really use it tbh - my target demographic isn’t really on LinkedIn much.

What limit are you running into? You can get short-term banned by sending too many connections without notes or having people click "I don't know this person" on your requests.

I agree. If you're attempting to make meaningful connections. But I guess they have the limits in place to prevent spam (they need to control these recruiters, cause it clearly doesn't work on them)

Weird. I haven’t experienced any limits. My company recently purchased licenses for the entire sales org. The only limit I have on my end is the 150 InMail credits - could be wrong but I believe that resets monthly anyway so it’s not really an issue for me. Maybe check in with your Account Manager at LI to see if they can provide some explanation?

Well, MS did pay over $26Bn for LI, so I'm sure they are trying hard to monetize their investment... to be clear I definitely agree with you.

Another thing I find annoying about LI is that they share next to no data with you. Clearly, they know exactly who has looked at my content and profile but they won't share any of that information. Even if someone clicks my content LI still won't tell me who it was, so it has little value to me and makes it impossible to understand if LI activity is driving any business.

Put it this way:  If my company didn't pay for it, I would certainly not.  It really adds no value other than being able to send 150 inmails/month.  I'll take zoominfo all day though, cell numbers is the best way to talk with someone and talking with someone is the best way to qualify them.

Sales Navigator to verify who the contacts are you need to reach out to and ZoomInfo to find their contact info. One two punch combo.

Let me offer a different view.  I believe one of the keys to LI SN success is the conversations you get to have over time with key prospects.

If you arrange your lead list effectively, your home page becomes a 'what my leads care about' page, filtered to get rid of all other noise.
From there, interacting and engaging with your prospects' posts by adding insightful comments, celebrating wins, and posing questions can position you as someone with something to say to those prospects.

Over time, you build high-level relationships, stand out from competitors, add value- and any cold call becomes a 'warm call,' on the basis of the familiarity you intentionally built.

As you begin to get engagement within post comments from these prospects, the rule of reciprocity kicks in.  You'll find that once you connect with them, they'll begin interacting with your posts etc as well.  IMHO, this is relationship-building at scale, and is impossible to do across a large swath of prospects without SN.

Doing this takes roughly 30 minutes per week, but yields big results.
It's mid-long tail, but the ROI becomes evident, typically <90 days.

When I started doing this consistently, I realized SN was an indispensable tool for the work I do.

Totally agree there. Zoom info is expensive as hell but it drills down to the right info and contacts. You'll be set!
