Donโ€™t pitch immediately. And I donโ€™t mean โ€œwait a few days before pitchingโ€. I mean actually engage with content. Send me stuff that I would care about that isnโ€™t from your blog. Be different by not being the person who immediately wants my time.ย

Connect with a personalized note based on research. A few days later, like something of theirs. Discuss in a message that you saw some activity that sparked your interest in chatting. Share relevant content. Repeat. Then attempt to get on the phone and probe some more.ย

Get personal. As an example, if your prospect is posting job openings and your product/services assists with talent development, then that would warrant a response.ย

Engage with their content/post for a month then send a connection request and share some insights (not from your company) from their industry. Dont pitch right away.ย

Get the fundamentals of your LinkedIn account dialed in first. I find that Linkedin is an awesome place to reach out to people, engage in productive conversations, and get my companies brand out there. I have optimized for my industry and post often which has gotten a lot of engagement over the last year.

Chris Haroun does some fundamental MBA(ish) type courses on Udemy and such so that could be helpful.ย

Here is one of his Youtube videos (roughly 20 mins long though)ย

Connections. ย

I see we both know Steve. ย I once carried him home after a bender. ย Awesome times. ย Anyway, who makes decisions on software?

^ this is the one. I'd respond to this over whatever BS script you make based on some influencer or sales guru's online training course...

Send a connect with a note, I have found that they are more likely to open it this wayย

Before you approach, warm them up by engaging with their content. Don't be a douche though; give real responses.

Wait until they post something that creates an opening, drop value in the comments, then immediately follow up with a connect request and personalized message.

If they accept, drop a stack of free resources and say "If you ever want to talk more about how this might apply to your business, let me know."

This is how I sell to SMBs (and how I get high-profile guests on my podcast).

I usually follow this up by nurturing with value once a month or so:

"Came across this video that you might find helpful, wanted to send it your way"

It's easier to get more calls in once I get them on the first one. If I manage to get them on a call but they don't follow through, I just stay on them once a month or so, try to set up at least one catch-up call every 30-90 days to keep the relationship fresh.

I find it helpful to post frequently on LI since it helps keep me top-of-mind after I break the ice.
