LinkedIn Breach ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

So basically everyone that has a LinkedIn was affected... aka everyone here. Time to change some things in your settings. I'd start with 2FA

https://9to5mac.com/2021/06/29/linkedin-breach/ LinkedIn breach reportedly exposes data of 92% of users - 9to5Mac A second massive LinkedIn breach reportedly exposes the data of 700M users, which is more than 92% of the total 756M users. The database ...

Dan Price is all about equality... His company will purposefully will allow themselves to be breached so that they can be the same

And then he would most certainly post about how he gave the hacker a 70k salary to do it.

How beautifully ironic it would be if Dan Price's fall from grace came from a LinkedIn breach.

What does Dan Price have to do with this? Honeslty just curious. I blocked him awhile ago because I was tired of the self pats for paying 70k in Seattle which isnโ€™t that much there

Nothing. It was a cheap jab. I sneak one in on him at least once a week on here.

Wow of all those social platforms, youโ€™d think LI would have a better cybersecurity... I would love to be in cybersecurity right now. Iโ€™d send this to all my prospects and be like "You wouldnโ€™t want to be next"

This is the quickest way to blacklisted if you're slinging cybersecurity wares. After every major breach there are CISOs shaming vendors on LinkedIn and twitter for selling like this.

I (usually) give security practitioners the benefit of the doubt. They know they have target's on their back but unfortunately they're often held back by other executives who don't think security is worth investment.

Yeah fear mongering never works. I am also in cyber security, and intentionally never ever mention breaches directly.ย

Yea, it's definitely an unwritten rule. It does help my job though because I can discuss it with my customers.

We found more success speaking with marketing and brand managers about breaches (due to the negative publicity) than we did speaking with CISOs about it since they already knew.

Oh well thatโ€™s good to know that this method doesnโ€™t work in cybersecurity. My previous company used to do that with CTOs and it worked.

At my previous company we did. Never felt right. How did you get into cybersecurity?

ok I was commenting about this on another thread. As one of the products I sell is cyber insurance coverage, wouldn't it be wise to target specific insurance carriers as prospects so that they give automatic rate reductions if their clients use your product specifically? Is that something people in your space already do?ย

Because my job is to prove that the client is a good risk, therefore negotiate cheaper premiums. If they want cyber coverage, demonstrating that they have safeguards in place makes it easier. @BigMeechย ? You have any insights on this as well?

Had a prospect who WAS breached and they couldnโ€™t even get money to get a solution that would have helped prevent the breach. Us or anybody else.

That's aggregated though, from significant data scraping - calling it a LI breach is to make it valuable on the blackmarket. It's not 'really' a LI breach - they've just used LI as the structure to hang their aggregated data on.

Also, the things you listed are all available on LI, only phone numbers would be a surprise (and thats only if they are a direct dial, tbh - which most won't be)

Everybody needs to relax a bit here. The only information that was "breached" was publicly available information. Still not great, but it's not like they stole your passwords or CC information
