LinkedIn Connection Request

So my internet is out. Thanks AT&T.

Anyway, I sent a connection request via my mobile app as I usually do via web. Except the message box that I type a few sentences in before I send the request didn't pop up. The request just sent.

So here I am, looking like an asshat that sent a generic "please add me to your network" thoughtless piece of trash.

I need a beer.

Is this a big deal?

Honestly, I get a higher acceptance rate when I don't say anything at all.

100%. Saying nothing is better. You don't risk sounding generic and copy/paste.

I'm not a fan of the message it sends but I see your point 💯

I get what youre saying. Same as HarryCaray, honestly I've noticed a much higher percentage of accepts with no message vs w/ message though. Once they accepted, I also dont send them a message right away. I wait a few days then try to start a conversation.

This is crazy to me acceptance rates were higher with no message for some of you. 🤷‍♀️

A/B test it. It could be the personas/industries I'm seeking. I'd say try 50 of each and compare results.

Dont sweat it man, happens all the time. Hit em with an inmail if they dont accept and explain it, though again, not a big deal

doesn't seem like it would work as well but a blank connection will have a higher acceptance rate over a small sales pitch in the message. if they accept, then you can send a free message without character and attachment restraints.

It happens - you might be able to send a message or inMail if you have premium if you are concerned with impression. But more than likely it wont matter.

I let the Premium lapse to see if I missed it. Dang.

I get a ton of connection requests, I hit some algorithm by accident literally that made my linkedin blow up - I'm less likely to accept if someone has a big message to start. It pretty much translates into "I want something" instead of an innocent connection request.
