LinkedIn influencers thinking everyone is active on LinkedIn

These people drive me nuts. Every single day I see people talking about high detail personalization based on details that are essentially impossible to find unless they are 1) an enterprise business) 2) another B2B tech company 3) highly active on LinkedIn.

Maybe I'm being too curmudgeony and they are just talking about their world. But I see stuff like

  • Comment on their posts on LinkedIn!
  • Personalize based on any interviews or podcasts they've been on!
  • Refer to their CEOs top priorities to their shareholders!

Uh huh. And all of that is totally applicable to the majority of sellers who are selling to Joe Smith's Autobody in Iowa City. Joe's dad started the company and passed it to Joe Jr and Joe Jr takes home 90k annually and doens't even know what software is.

It just irks me that the people posting this stuff act like LinkedIn oriented personalization is applicable to most people. Most buyers are not B2B tech influencers or fortune 2000 execs.

Thanks Jesus someone said this. All them "teachings n trainings" by these Sales trainers is only applicable for suspects/prospects who are active on LinkedIn.ย

Not just the trainers, but all "AI" tools which help you write better emails (Lavender), or tell you a prospect's personality (Crustal Knows) only work for the active ones.ย

Till someone thinks of a great solution to this, I'd say you do the following:
1. Segregate them according to their titles / personas
2. Craft at least 2 decent+ templates for each persona (not very personalised because of obvious reasons)
3. Play the Law of Averages

Thinking out Loud: This challenge can only be solved via a community. SDRs and Sales would have to get the information stored inside their CRMs about these inactive prospects and distribute it to the public somehow.

Maybe someone can build a Public CRM of some sorts. Having details about only these kind of prospects and buyers. For the rest, we already have LinkedIn and the "sales trainers and personalization bla bla"

Lavender provides plenty of value even with prospects who arenโ€™t active on LinkedIn or socials

Often the key DMs in my niche donโ€™t even have LI profiles. Hard to comment on what doesnโ€™t exist.

YUP, there are SO MANY buyer personas and industries who find their way on LI once or twice a year (or if they are looking for a job), yet the โ€œsocial sellingโ€ gurus (those who speak about stupid shit like โ€œdark socialโ€) are convinced that everyone is just waiting to read their content.ย

Fwiw my team deal sizes are 200k-1.8m generally. So donโ€™t you worry your sweet little head about the expiration.

Just say โ€œitโ€™s standard verbiage in our contracts.โ€ Our team sees faster turn arounds with it vs not and I also sell SaaS.
