LinkedIn Messenger... The Do's and Do Not's

Every SDR mentally crosses their fingers when we hit that send button on LinkedIn messenger.

But how often do we get a meeting from that message...

What are your best LinkedIn strategies - when it comes to the conversation opener, asking questions but not too many, going for the meeting?

A strategy I have used:

Hi Name, thanks for the connect! I was hoping to ask you a couple of questions?

I used to do this. The shorter the betterย

I know this is a fairly common strategy but I'll often try to incorporate some kind of informal chit chat into my initial messages to people. Usually they're pretty clamped up at first, but if they respond at all, I use it as a segue to talk about whatever notable non-work things are happening in my own life, to make me seem more human.

e.g.ย
"Hi ___, how was your weekend?"ย
"Great thanks"
"Good to hear! I had a great weekend myself - I got to visit my folks which was a real treat, and I even splurged on a new guitar!"ย

This back and forth provided a great ice breaker because it showed that I'm not a cut-and-paste salesperson, and gave me a good segue into work-related discussion (I actually got a meeting with this ice breaker)

I've booked a few, not many but I've done it. Just make sure to qualify before handing it off

I do it al the time. I โ€˜m pretty blunt. I just tell them immediately why I think we need to have a call. If not, fine as well. No answer. Expect my full cadence to come down until I have an answer.ย

If I can, yes absolutely. I still find that C Suite tend to prefer calls or emails though
