LinkedInfluencer nonsense on a Sunday

So here I am, Sunday evening enjoying myself on the couch watching myself some black mirror, scrolling through LinkedIn. I come across this absolute nonsense and just need to share it with the group

What's everyones thoughts on this?

This guy should crawl back into the marketing cage he came from imho. Anyone that has <10 years professional work experience should realise they know so little.

I'm fired up! Fuck marketing xo

The irony of someone in marketing accusing anyone of sending spam 😂😂😂

Honestly I think most of these posts are just designed to be controversial to generate engagement... Whatever fucking good that is 🤷

I've never had a solid deal sent my way by marketing. At my last org we would get that shit sent to us in a round robin and 99% could be disqualified with 30 seconds of research.

Same here, the MQLs were the most wildly unqualified people to speak with and a major source of frustration

Still to this day, I'm amazed marketing gets paid what they do for the amount of shit ass conversion they provide.

No bias there at all. Meanwhile I’ve been outbounding since I started at my current company to build almost all my pipe because the waste of space local marketing head thinks running webinars literally no one attends is how you get leads.

"running webinars literally no one attends" this hit so hard. My last org invested so much time and money into that bull shit. Rather than spending money on getting decent data they went all in on a stupid fucking podcast that got a grand total of 5 views every week. Every single view was someone from our own org.

Let me guess, do they also expect you as the AE to waste touchpoints with prospects to get them to attend the webinar/podcast, as opposed to, you know, using the touchpoint to drive a sale forward?

They tried to push for that once and got an ear full of exactly how much we appreciated their efforts.

I feel that marketing and other non-sales people often prefer less intrusive/effort avenues of obtaining goals. They just want to farm leads from a form.
For us in sales, having the person to person connection adds the extra dimension to get shit done.
I'm not saying lead forms are inherently bad, but it's bullshit to claim sales development lead gen is dead.

Every time I see this guy's shitty opinion posts pop up in my feed I literally have to step away to cool off.

What's funny is that people roast the fuck outta him in the comments. When asked for actual data to substantiate his 'objective truths' he ghosts...

Easy to see he's full of shit when you follow the money...

My company made hundreds of thousands of dollars from cold calling. This is an idiotic take. He just is doing this to promote his book

The reality is that marketing doesn’t have a clue what an sdr does or how effective they are, especially when they have a true partnership with their AE. The idea that they’re just a bunch of monkeys dialing and email blasting without any direction is pretty ignorant. Also, i refuse to demo to a leaf who isn’t willing to take a discovery call first. Why? Because features don’t sell products. Addressing your business needs and showing how a product will make your company stronger does. There’s enough evidence that proves your seal is fucked if you demo without knowing business fit first.

i just closed a quarter million dollar deal (arr) because i created a strategy with my sdr who in turn got me a ton of information by prospecting individual contributors. We then leveraged that information to go up the ladder and book a meeting a director who then got me to the VP.

Marketing could never in a million fucking years get me the insights my sdr did and they could never help create the groundswell of support needed to get a deal across the finish line.

Lastly, i would never sell for a company who didn’t have dedicated SDRs. Mid Market and Enterprise AEs should generate some pipeline but we have way bigger things to so than prospect all day.
