Looking for advice on jobs I can learn the most sales to build my own business

Hi guys!

I am in the very rudimentary phases of building my own business and am looking for advice from any and all of you who may have done the same in your careers. Currently I'm about 1.5 years into my first office job (blah) and am only doing it to learn sales/the corporate and business world so I can then translate and use the knowledge and skills gained for growing my personal business and my own company (wellness industry).

I have a 3 year timeline of staying here to learn as much as I can while I start working on a business plan and all the other things I need to do to start creating my company. The company I currently work at (sales for recruiting firm) I do not do demo's or presentations or anything like that. I'm pitching and cold calling hard, and have been very successful shooting the shit with hot shot CEO's of many Fortune 500 companies. However, product demo's and presentations will be my prime way of building my own business and am starting to think I should switch jobs to gain that side of the sales experience. Should I be at a company that I can learn this skill or should I be going full send into the unknown with the strong sales accumen I'm acquiring in what I'm doing now?

Any other tips on starting businesses is appreciated!

Can I ask you one thing: What is stopping you from building that business today? Don't say it's sales skills, because so many entrepreneurs learn that as they go.

The wellness industry moves too fast to wait around 3 years. So why aren't you already started?

Find a mentor who has been successful in doing what you are trying to accomplish, or work for an early start up and you'll see firsthand.

I want to start my own wellness/nutrition coaching business but instead of marketing to individuals I want to market to companies for their employees

IMO demos and presentations are so specific to each company that it's not really a skill you should chase. Whatever your future business ICP is should be where you focus your attention. If that's CEO's of Fortune 500 companies then stay where you're at.

Yes I definitely need to do more networking in the space overall and also explore opportunities that are in my industry. Thanks!
