Looming comp plan change.

Freak out or keep calm and sell on? I know there are MANY diff scenarios, but just in general...has your company usually taken care of you or was it so bad of a change you left the company?

I'm a bit of a cynic... I've gone through many comp plan changes, and I've always seen them get worse little by little. They'll spin it and under cut the material changes but it'll be a % point here, a reduction of kicker there.. "all for the greater good"

I'm hoping it works out for you and makes a path for higher cash but just stay skeptical and call them out!

Good Luck!

usually yes, usually the company's comp plan had to be aligned with sales otherwise, company makes more , sales make less and revenue suffers OR sales people make more, company makes less, and revenue suffers.

That's why it's important for a company to be transparent about possible comp changes w/ their reps. BUT they should also reinforce that any sort of comp change will not affect the bottom line of the sales reps.

But....I've spoken to a few people that have had their companies change their comp plans for the worse..so my experience was different than others.

I took a call yesterday from an AM that made "too much money in 2021" so the comp plan is being tweaked so that the AM goes from 50/50 salary/variable to 75/25 so the company can pay less money. The AM is totally motivated (to find a new job)
