Lying on your resume VS Glorifying even the smallest skill you have.

Iโ€™d go with the second one.

I have seen resumes where โ€œcreating copies and PDFs of documentsโ€ was listed as experience.

Iโ€™ve said this before and Iโ€™ll say it again - the average job description has 2X lies of an average resume. Itโ€™s a known fact.

Tell me honestly though. If you had to choose a side of the table to park your coffee mug on, which would it be? (sitting this one out isnโ€™t an option before anyone asks)

There is a difference between experience (I worked on X project and was responsible for Y income), and skills (I know Microsoft Access). Yes, you can learn skills, but having so many people lie about the skills makes it harder for everyone. I am on the side of putting anything and everything under experience, and being honest on the skills side.

Regarding job descriptions - itโ€™s a wishlist. What most corps do, and this comes from recruiters all the way up to management principles that are taught in school, is to target people who can do and are proficient in at least 80% of whatโ€™s there. Thatโ€™s the inflation that you see.

On the sales side - if you have ever carried a bag and know an industry, you pass a majority of the screeners. From there itโ€™s sales style based on the product or service and sales cycle experience.

Donโ€™t do it. We had a candidate that we easily wouldโ€™ve worked around had they been honest however, when that third party verification company spits back a red flag then thatโ€™s an immediate nope
