Making a Transition

How would one break into the tech sales arena with no experience? I've been in sales for 11 years (beverage industry, healthcare and then construction). and it seems like every job I stumble across is tech this, tech that and it seems a bit intimidating but also seems/is super lucrative. Pointers? Advice? Also looking to be fully/virtually remote.

That's the way to break in.   Having sales experience should help you land that first job.

BDR with 11 years experience?

I just started applying and I made the jump from Med Dev, there's a learning curve of course but it is probably the best career decision I've ever made.

Territory management initially, then inside medical sales, then 2 separate roles as BDR in the same industry.

No offense but seems like you're going backwards. Territory -> Inside -> BDR

I have joined tech from Food but I was always selling so didn't find a roadblock. Keep applying, start networking.

Those sales skills apply no matter what's being sold.

Apply for smaller company AE roles or SDR at big companies.
Personally I would try for AE at small company. Easier and faster growth and money.
Just apply to a ton of places. Connect with recruiters and make it happen. Yes there is BIG money in tech sales. And lots of openings now, so good time to apply.

Ah, great advice about which roles to look for with which size companies. I know it makes sense, but just nice to have the confirmation. Appreciated.
The application spamming has already ensued. With thoughtful consideration and research. Someone is bound to bite.

Go to 4-5 companies you REALLY want. Find recruiters on LinkedIn and connect with them. Then send said recruiters inmail asking about the jobs.
They have a quota to hit and numbers as well. You will greatly increase chances to get in the door. And they will appreciate it.

Theres some really cool construction softwares out there. Pro core is one I think of off the top of my head that hires for AEs might be worth looking into roles that translate well with past experience.
