His negotiation skills were on point. When David Wallace offered him $12K for the Michael Scott Paper Company (which was worth nothing), he held the line. Called his bluff, stated the cost of doing nothing, didn't settle at even $60K until he knew his people were taken care of. One of my favorite scenes of the whole show.

That's one of my all time favorites now that I know how it ends, but I remember the first time being terrified he'd mess it up. He doesn't get enough credit. Not the best manager but a pretty great relational seller.

Michael was a brilliant salesman. He demonstrated this again and again. He wasn't stupid either, remember when he made Oscar that dumb doll when he was leaving and was dying of laughter because of how lowly Oscar thought of him? Lol
Michael was a prime example of primo salesperson not fit for management.

Yeah Michael was personally an idiot but an excellent closer. Management always disliked him but scenes like that one showed hes a skilled salesman.
