Mid-Size Startup or Big Tech?

Currently working as a SDR at a high-growth company (500+ FTEs and growing) that is truly a cool company, growing like crazy and doing well. Have 3+ years of experience and have been a SDR + full cycle AE before this gig.

Some issues: high SDR churn, OTE isn't amazing (70-75k OTE), takes more than a year/year and a half to get promoted, monthly quota is pretty high.

Have an opportunity to move to big tech to work as a SMB AE or as an AM. OTE is significantly higher.

Any advice here?

SMB AE would be my choice.

What's to say you get there and experience the same "high quotas" and end up in the same position had you stayed?

AE. Always AE. You will have better opportunities in the future, not to mention you'll be a CLOSER.

I would pick AE here if you can get it. You will finally be able to drink coffee.

Make sure you find and ask deep questions for the new organization. Know what would turn you off from the new job and find out if that's going on. Grass isn't always greener. It could take you the same year to be on plan as an AE at the new place as it would to get promoted and already be well oiled meeting generating machine where all you have to do is close now as an AE at your current company.

How long have you been at this current company? Are you close to an AE promotion? Also if you were to get promoted, would your OTE get a good bump?

Start up all they way, they usually work out in the long term and worst situation is that it doesn't work and you need to find a new job

I think the question I would ask is why does it take so long to get promoted? Working at bigger Corps make it easier for them to cycle through reps, and most seasoned vets will go in until they peak/feeling pressure then bounce. Just my opinion working in both startup to Corporate America settings

Big tech company to see what is it like and to gain experience, if after a few months it isn't for you, revert to the other option of a smaller company.

You won't lose anything, the only thing you'd gain is the answer to this question!
