morbid Wednesday - death of a client

Aside from a condolences email to their team, anyone have thoughts of what to do when a main contact at an existing customer passes away? Cause is unknown, so can't donate to a charity in their name. They also don't exist on social so can't stalk prior posts to donate to something they seemed to care about.

Oof. That's a tough one. It's good that you're being compassionate about it, but I wouldn't spend more time than you already have thinking about this.

Were you able to find an obituary? These will often have a place to send flowers to the funeral or family, make a donation etc. If it was someone you were close with I don't think it's weird to send flowers or make a donation. I did this when a main contact at a client passed away last year.

Great idea on the obit - thanks. Hoping they update it with a donation link. This is one of our biggest customers, plus I was close with him. Thanks!

I contacted the next in line and sent condolences to the company.

The next in line contacted me and were completely professional about it. I sent my condolences via the next in line.

Don't overthink about it. It's the circle of life unfortunately but that's if you've exhausted all effort and feel that you got a closure.
