Moving From Health Insurer to Insurance Broker

Anyone on here work for an Employee Benefits Brokerage? I'm in the final stages of making a decision to move away from actually working on the insurer side of the business for the last 9 years to building a BOB with a brokerage firm.

I meet this week as they are presenting to me their plan to get me up and running. Any thoughts on specific asks or questions I should present to them?

Thanks!

I think this is the first time in the last year on this page I can actually contribute fully.

Questions I would ask:
1) Are you going to be only dealing in Group Benefits or is it going to be all line items of insurance include individual Life, Disability... etc
2) Are you going to be given a block of business to start working off or do you start fresh?
3) What are the top 3 providers this brokerage has contracts with?
4) Is the pay strictly commission on your BOB or is it salary + commission?

Thanks for the thoughts. I should have clarified that may experience is within group/employer benefits and the role is the same. Any comp I produce goes toward my BOB, so all lines are on the table.

My main thing would be to understand the comp in detail and how they will support you. IMO with insurance sales there are many different commission rates and policies to understand. Make sure you get clarity.

also, If i was you I would want to know exactly what it will take and what others have done to get to certain income levels.

i dont have any other specific insights though.

when i sold insurance i stayed the fuck away from health insurance haha
