My boss miscalculated my quota in my favor. Tell him?

I started this role in March with a monthly ramp quota of 50% which was 25k. Every month since is 50k. In our HR system, and in my boss' personal notes, he has my annual quota at $450,000, when in reality it's $475,000 when you take into account my first month.

For this reason, he thinks I'm over-achieving, when really I'm at about 97% or whatever. His numbers weren't adding up so I just ran them and figured this out. While he and HR may have this written incorrectly, I've been getting paid the proper amount monthly based on our comp plan, and our commission payout system has my annual number logged properly.

I should just tell him right? At some point it will become clear if he looks into it for any reason? Or should I let him think I'm doing a bit better than I am and if it comes up play dumb?

I'm not worried about my job or his perception of me if I end up right under 100%, he's a good boss and considers me to be doing well. My being under goal is entirely due to me missing badly my second month, but I've been beating quota since and think I will hit 100% at my current pace.

Telling him would probably benefit you more than if you don’t. You’ll come across as honest and there was no malicious intent by you in this situation.

I agree with everyone here that you should communicate with your manager and be upfront.   I believe it will go a long way, and you will be trusted by your manager, which should pay off.

I would tell him because you're not benefiting from his miscalculation. If you were..that might be a different story.

All depends on how the company treats its people. If the company treats you like shit, there's no reason to go out of your way to help them.

Definitely be honest. And here's why: This will make you infinitely trustworthy. While you may lose out on some money now, in the long term, your boss will rely on you more and you'll level the eff up.

Go to them and let them know that you have been internally keeping track of your own numbers and your revenue $ amount is coming out less than theirs and want to verify for accuracy.  Shows initiative on your end and being transparent should go a long way with your management team.

Transparency for sure. Who knows, maybe you misunderstood your quota and you’re in the wrong, not him. Being honest will go a long way.

Treat people the same way you want to be treated.  I would say this is similar to finding someone's wallet on the ground.  Put yourself in their shoes.  If you want the world to be a better place... it starts with you.

Definitely tell him. The accountants will find the error eventually anyway and dock you, and if you bring it to light now you'll increase your standing with the boss I'm sure.

Make an argument for no cap on commission. You're kicking ass, you're creating more revenue for the company, why are they throttling their growth by not aligning their comp plan with your performance?

I actually am uncapped. I look at it as more so maintaining consistency, so it's more personal preference.
